Day Trading - Tailors - And Private Jets
Looking through a trading magazine I noticed an ad for a tailor. It made me think of being in Texas the first time at a new day trading shop. I was sitting and a chair waiting to meet my new day trading instructor.
Behind me I could over hear these two day traders talking about their trading that day so I was listening in.
They talked about a couple trades that worked for them then one said he had to leave soon because he was going to New York for dinner.
Keep in mind we are in Texas… A long way from New York.
He invites the other guy and tells him that he has already charted the private jet so it’s not a problem if he wants to go.
Then his cell phone rings and I only get one side of the conversation, but it goes like this:
“Hello”
“Yes, I want the limo to pick up my tailor before he picks me up”
“Ok, and find out how much fight time we have, I want the suit finished before we land”
I am thinking wow, I can’t remember the last time I flew to New York for dinner and had a tailor make me a suit to wear on the way.
I wanted to ask him how much that would cost to hire a tailor to fly with you and make a suit on the plane.
He hung up and his friend said something about hiring a private jet.
The answer kind of surprised me, he had figured out how many first class tickets you can buy for the price of a private jet and it was only like 5 or something.
I had never thought about people flying private jets to save money.
Anyway, that was my introduction to the life of a day trader.
I knew that’s where I wanted to be.
