Getting started Paper Trading

www.umoo.com looks like my strategy worked, I was up 2% which put me in the number 4 spot out of 100 players, the top 40 split $1200 you get $2 right now, and then you get $28 when you make your first money deposit.

I also figured out a way to make the 5 buys really fast, you can do them all at once, which really speeds things up.

www.howthemarketworks.com - this one is fast, but it looks like it gave me a price from 30 minutes ago, with no delay. that makes me think it will not work for day trading.

shorted at ES 884.75 was given a price of SPY 89.17 looks like that price was from 30 minutes ago.

pulled up a live one minute chart, and they are instantly giving the price from 15 minutes ago. too bad, that's not going to work.

Just realized that I can look up the current price and then enter a limit order, that way I can control the price and it will hit 15 minutes later.

To close out a bad trade, I can use a stop order and it works just fine.

www.wallstreetsurvivor.com shorted at 89.25 so I will see what kind of fill I get on this one.

15 minutes later I got the fill, 89.26 so it looks like this site has live market data.

covered at 89.14 still waiting on the entry price, probably takes 15 minutes to show.

filled at 89.14 so this one very accurate with market data.

So this one works, but I can only order 200 shares at a time, so while I would like to use it the commissions will be too far off to be meaningful. so it looks like I am down to how the market works, and just entering limit orders. That will give me the most realistic market info in my account.

http://vse.marketwatch.com/ - sold 1000 shares 89.22 - instantly gives you the price from 15 minutes ago. Their system is very hard to navigate and to even find your orders I had to do a lot of hunting around, so probably won't be using this one again.

www.fpstockchallenge.com - has live prices but only allows you to order 200 shares, so that's not very realistic for me.

I can trade 2 or even 4 contracts of the emini so that would be equivalent to 1000 or 2000 shares of SPY.
