Signed up for Sim Trading Accounts

www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/Public/Members/Register.aspx - this is suppose to be a free stock market simulation site that pays out $100,000 per month to the top traders, and it's free to sign up.

Signed up and I like this program. It really gives you some of the feel of really trading if you take it serious. Takes your trades in real time and appears to work.

I placed my first trade and got out with a small loser and I am out 2 commissions $10 each, one for buy and one for sell. Then I lost $7 on my trade of 100 shares of SPY.

I like to trade the index futures, so I can test it out on SPY since it works about the same way.

http://vse.marketwatch.com/ - I found another stock market game, this one by Market Watch. I have really changed my mind and I think there are things to be learned by paper trading. I though ti was a waste of time before but now I can really see the benefit.

I signed up and it looks like this will work, except they delay your orders for 20 minutes, so if I want to record a specific price for entry and put in a limit order then the price may (probably will) move away from my order in 20 minutes so I won't get filled.
This looks like it would work good if you just trade end of day prices, but for day trading I don't think it will work right.

I will keep looking.

www.updown.com - this one uses real time prices, so day trading would be possible, but they also take out $100 for a commission. That is rediculous, who in their right mind would pay $200 for a round turn?

anyway, that kind of screws the game up for me because I actually wanted it to keep track of my trades, and taking out $200 on each trade really blows. I guess I could just start trading a massive number of shares to dilute the commisson? but that's not very realistic.

www.umoo.com - this site looks much more professional, I am sure it's because they charge money, but it looks like they pay most (or all) of it back out to the players. But it says they also have a fun mode that you can play for free.

signed up, but found out that all the free contest are either 1 day or 2 to 4 hours long, not really what I am looking for.

signed up for a one day contest anyway, because it was free, very cool interface too bad they don't have some longer games. look through the cheapest stocks they had that had the highest percentage move today. So if any of them move tomorrow then I should do ok.

Looked through some of the old games, and on most of them if you had just not traded then you would have won, since most people ended up losing money. That's so funny.

www.youngmoney.com - signed up and waiting for email. Also uses the $100 per side commission. What a drag.

www.howthemarketworks.com - this one lets you set your own commission price, which is a lot more realistic. Just signed up and they also let you set how much money you start with. I decided to start with $100,000 nice round number so I can easily see how much I have lost or made. This will let me trade 500 shares of SPY which is the same as one Emini contract. I set the commissions to $2.50 which is what I am paying now.

It lets you add different portfolios, not sure how it keep track of them?

I think I am going to like this one, it looks like the portfolios are seperate so you can keep track of different trading ideas or theories.

www.fpstockchallenge.com - another one that has realtime prices and gives away money in a contest. after you hit 25 trades, then your commission goes to 9.95 that is reasonable.

so now I just have to wait for the market to open tomorrow and then see if I can locate a setup and then see how these different sites work. I am thinking I will also do a buy and sell on each one to see what type of fills I get.
